Well hello. This site is still very shiny and new, but there’s already quite a lot of content.
Feel free to jump straight into whatever you find most interesting. We’ll wait.
Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, & Underwater Photography
We’ve got a few underwater articles online already. Want to experience some totally amazing diving with tiny weird critters? Check out Tulamben, Bali. Big weird critters? See the thresher sharks at Malapascua Island, wobbegongs at Julian Rocks, or the hammerhead sharks of Wolf Island…
If you’re an underwater photographer, I’ve written up my favorite settings for underwater macro, and a similar article on wide-angle photography with the Sony A7rIII camera. I’ve included my “big animal” photo settings in that article, and they don’t come much bigger than whale sharks in the Galapagos.
If you’re looking for a new dive computer, check out our detailed guide to the top choices available.
Lots more on the way, obviously…
Wildlife Travel & Photography
We’ll have some wildlife articles up soon! May include fluffy quokkas. (Spoiler alert: will definitely include fluffy quokkas.)
Marine Biology… & Random Sciencey Geek-Outs
I’m a whale shark biologist and conservationist at the Marine Megafauna Foundation, so you can read a bit more about that here on the site if you like. I’ve also added my scientific publications and so forth. More fun, though, are my attempts at science communication.
So, could “shark tsunamis” really happen? In the immortal words of Matt Damon…
The answer is… yeah, actually. Could be a thing. All wet and bitey I guess. Read more about that here.
Of course, being completely whale shark obsessed, I’ve always got plenty to say about them, too. Here are my favorite facts about whale sharks.
Hope you enjoy the articles! Check back soon for more…
